Set Up

Grid is 10x10 yards

Pugg Goals or cone goals are set up on each end line

Divide the players equally into two teams: Blue and Red

Coach has the soccer balls

Procedure

The coach plays the ball out to one of the sides, in this case the Blue side

The first Red player steps out as a defender and tries to stop the Blue player from scoring

The Blue player attempts to score on either goal

If the Red defender steals the ball he can attempt to score and the Blue player will try to stop him

Limit each turn to no more than 20 seconds

Switch up who you play the ball to so every player has the same amount of times on offense and defense

To make it really fun have more than one group go at the same time. This will focus on the dribblers keeping their head up

Coaching Points

Encourage change of direction. Add in the rule that the attacking player has to change directions at least once before he can go to goal.

After each player has gone a couple of times, review the turns you have worked on previously.

After the review, switch up the teams and play again.

Make It Competitive

+1 point for a goal

+1 point for a successful turn where the attacker keeps possession of the ball

You can have the players keep track of individual points or team points. Depending on your group set a score that will win the game. 20 points is a good starting point.

III. 2v2 to Two Goals

IV. Play Their Favorite Game

Whichever game they like the best, play that game
