Manny and my Central Park Experience

Manny was a very kind and friendly looking older gentleman.

I had just finished up an hour of playing soccer with 3 year old
Miles and wondered into the famous and hallowed grounds of
Strawberry Fields.

You'll remember from yesterday, , how Manny just
smiled and offered me a 'hello'.

"My name is Brian" I responded.

And then, I just sat and listened to the Beetles cover band
play some classic tunes for about 10 minutes.

Remembering my experience with young Miles inspired me to turn
back to Manny and initiate a conversation.

You never know the 'story' the people you meet have and Manny's
off guarding and friendly disposition led me to believe that
he would be someone interesting to chat with.

"What brings you to Central Park, Manny?"

"I live just down the street and enjoy coming here to listen to
the music.  I've lived in New York for 3 decades, but my walks
through Central Park never get boring"

Something inside told me that his '3 decades in New York' were
chalked filled with interesting experiences - I really don't
know why, maybe just something in the way he said it.

"Did you work in the music industry?" I asked because of his
apparent love for the tunes we were both enjoying.

"Entertainment.  I was a professional dancer and then become a
talent agent.  I've had a great life.  A blessed life.  I had
the opportunity to dance all over the world and then later,
booked high name musical performers to shows all throughout
North America" he told me.

Very interesting, I thought to myself.

"High name musical performers?  Anyone I would know?"

"Guys like Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.  I used to book them
for shows in New York and other places like that"

I almost fell off the bench.

He used to book FRANK SINATRA to shows???

"What is it you do for a living, Brian?"

"I work in youth sports and fitness"

I went on to explain to Manny what it is I do and why I do it.

How physical fitness and sport are conduits for life and provide
children and teenagers with necessary outlets for social growth
and emotional development - well beyond the 'physical' goals that
most people pigeonhole my line of work into.

"Now that's a life worth living, Brian!  Caring for and helping
develop children is an investment in all of our futures.  You
should be very proud of yourself"

Manny then did something I wasn't expecting.

"Here's my phone number.  Come back to New York and when you do,
call me.  I still have a lot of friends in the entertainment
world.  You give me a call and I'll make sure to get you some
tickets to any Broadway show you want"

he noticed I was caring a camera and asked a passerby if they
would take a picture of the two of us.

He wrote down his email address and asked me to email him a
copy of the photo.

I was awe struck by the entire experience.

And it furthered my believe that absolutely everyone you meet
has an amazing story.  All you have to do is make yourself
available to hear it.

I understand what most people want when it comes to youth sports
and fitness.

They want the BLAZING SPEED and BRUTE STRENGTH.

They want to WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP and PREVENT INJURIES.

And the reality is that my Complete Athlete Development system
provides that, in my opinion, better than any other package out
there.

But it does have some unique qualities as well.

I get asked a lot about how it is I have managed to train so
many young athletes successfully for so long.

How I can literally go anywhere in the world and within a matter
of a few short weeks, develop a thriving youth sports training
business.

It's because of my passion for building relationships with
people.

RELATIONSHIP FITNESS is a trend you are seeing more and more
in our industry.

Consumers no longer are looking for the 'quick fix to a faster
young athlete.

Coaches and Parents want to trust the people they bring into
their children's lives.

They want to know that you care for their young athletes and will
do what it takes for them to succeed on AND off the field.

They want someone who will take the time to cultivate a
relationship with their kids and be a quality mentor aside from
just a great, success-driven coach.

And no training package in the world today can show you how to
do that like Complete Athlete Development can.

My chapter on 'The Art of Coaching' alone describes how I go
about working with young athletes of different personality types
and how I create a safe and success-oriented environment within
which they aspire to great heights.

Relationship building is at the core of developing successful
young athletes.

If you haven't already, give Complete Athlete Development a try
and see why it is such a powerful resource.
