CKI Has Closed

Hello to all-
For those of you who have yet to hear the unfortunate happenings occuring at Corner Kick, we wanted to make sure that everyone has the correct information.  Due to circumstances beyond our control, Corner Kick has been forced to close it's doors.  We hope and fully expect that this issue will only be temporary, and are working diligently to re-open the doors as soon as possible.  In the interest of full disclosure and in the hopes that we can keep the rumors and gossip to a minimum, we would like to inform all of you exactly what happened...

The bank that held the mortgage on Corner Kick has decided to take possession of the facility and has cut off all communication with us.  This decision was made in spite of the fact that we were completely current on our payments when the bank began foreclosure proceedings.  The reasoning behind these actions are a complete mystery to us.  We tried over and over to work towards a solution, but to no avail.  In a time when credit markets are severely struggling because of the many foreclosures occurring everywhere, we are at a loss to understand why a bank would not continue to work with an entity that is actually making it's payments.  Even after we had exhausted all options for coming to an agreement with the bank, they wouldn't even lease the building back to us when they came into ownership of the facility.  So by their absurd reasoning, it is better for the building to sit vacant than to have a tenant who will pay all of the expenses of operating a facility plus a lease payment to the bank.

That being said, we do have options available to us and are working closely with our attorney's, as well as others, towards a resolution.  We do not expect this to be an extended closure, but rest assured that teams will be credited for games that are unable to be played.  Please check the website frequently as we will be posting constant updates in order to keep all of you informed.

We would also like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support we have received regarding this unbelievable set of circumstances.  It has truly helped to lift our spirits as we fight this battle in order to continue to serve this wonderful community.  In the end, what the bank is failing to realize, is that they are not simply affecting us as owners and operators, but they are taking something from this community that is enjoyed by thousands.  If you would like to voice your displeasure to this financial institution, the bank that held our loan is Associated Bank.  To show that this community will not stand for this type of predatory lending, we are asking all those who support Corner Kick to please do your banking with a different institution.  We need to send a clear message that we will not support banks who operate in this capacity and that this community is more important than the almighty dollar.

Once again, thank you for your support, patience and understanding as we fight to get through these difficult times.  It is because of you that we will continue to fight until we can welcome everyone back.  We will let all of you know as soon as we have a re-opening date.

Sincerely,

Ryan, Jennifer and John

i read the full post on the CKI website if true that really sucks for them and the soccer area. however, know one can say they didn't see this coming for a long time. the place was a dumpt before the construction and for the past year it's been flat out junk. yes i heard the rumers that the city screwed them over on a permit or something but then again could have just been them pushing some whoe is me PR so peaople would keep coming even thought the place was loosing money and been on the verge of going out of business for a very long time. the writing was on the wall on this deal along time ago. time to move on CKI hads it's run but they got out dated and failed to keep up with the soccer market and stay a viable training option compared to the other indoor soccer venues. if the owners really have the money and are in good financial situation this will work out for them otherwise they will fade away - oh well.
