I Can Be In Love With My Players For What They Have Done This Year, But That Does Not Mean I will Be In Love With Them If They Don't Do It Again Next Year

Now I am emotional with my players, but that won't last for ever.  I can be in love with my players for what they have achieved this season but if they don't do it again next year I won't be in love any more.

I cannot say to John Terry, "You are my captain and the Footballer of the Year and you have been fantastic so I promise you will always play next year."  He has got to continue performing.  Petr Cech has been absolutely fantastic.  But next year he must want to prove again that he is the best keeper in the world.  Claude Makelele must look to finish his career at Chelsea with even more trophies.

Everyone must be hungry to improve.  I will not have anyone thinking their place in the team is already waiting for them just because they have been fantastic this season.
